Google rated as 'hostile' to privacy
The rights group Privacy International has said that Google is leading a 'race to the bottom' among internet firms, as many of them do nothing to protect user privacy. Google has responded that the report is untrue and they do much to protect their user's privacy. None of the firms scrutunised by Privacy International were given a 'privacy friendly' rating. Hi5 and Facebook were critisised for the allegedly poor way that they dealt with user data.
Confused.com critisises Direct Line over advertising
Confused.com have hit out at Direct Line for their latest advertising campaign that tries to deter people from using price comparison sites, branding them as 'middlemen' that add costs and complications to the end user. Confused.com's MD Debra Williams has responded by saying 'This looks like an act of desperation from an increasingly uncompetitive Direct Line. It's a shame it won't allow its quotes to be compared through independent price comparison sites like Confused.com.' This comes as shopping comparison sites have been critisised for charging companies for appearing in their listings.
